The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
