The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and its heat and brightness, 1 By the Moon as she follows him; 2 And [by] the day when it displays it 3 By the night when it envelopeth it, 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 By the earth and Him Who spread it forth, 6 By the soul and Him Who propertioned it, 7 Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; 8 Surely blissful is he who hath cleansed it, 9 And he fails that corrupts it! 10 Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression, 11 When the most wicked man among them went forth (to kill the she-camel). 12 Then the messenger of God said to them, "This is God's she-camel. Let her drink." 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 and He fears not the issue thereof. 15
True are the words of God the Almighty.
