The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
ColorfulQuran.com displays pages in one of three Arabic fonts. Each may appear with a one-third chance, adding more diversity to the already diverse colors. And the words remain unchanged forever. ColorfulQuran.com will have more beautiful fonts soon, God willing.
