The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
