The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
