Mention the story of Abraham, the truthful Prophet, in the Book (the Quran) 41 When he said to his father: "O my father! Why do you worship that which hears not, sees not and cannot avail you in anything? 42 Father, a knowledge that has not reached you has come to me. So follow me that I may guide you to a Straight Way. 43 O my father! Serve not the devil. Lo! the devil is a rebel unto the Beneficent. 44 Father, indeed I fear lest a punishment from the Gracious One afflict you, and you become a friend of Satan." 45 (The father) replied: "Dost thou hate my gods, O Abraham? If thou forbear not, I will indeed stone thee: Now get away from me for a good long while!" 46 He answered: "Peace be on you. I will seek forgiveness of my Lord for you. He has been gracious to me. 47 I shall withdraw from you and that unto which ye pray beside Allah, and I shall pray unto my Lord. It may be that, in prayer unto my Lord, I shall not be unblest. 48 So when he turned away from them and those they worshipped, other than Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob. Each of them We made a Prophet, 49 And We gave them of Our Mercy (a good provision in plenty), and We granted them honour on the tongues (of all the nations, i.e. everybody remembers them with a good praise). 50
