The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water poured out 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
