The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And your garments purify! 4 And pollution shun. 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he thought; 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
