The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
