(Moses) said: "O my Lord! expand me my breast; 25 "Ease my task for me; 26 and loosen the knot from my tongue 27 that they may understand my words. 28 and appoint for me, from my household, someone who will help me bear my burden - 29 “That is Haroon, my brother.” 30 Strengthen my back by him, 31 And associate him in my affair. 32 That we may glorify Thee much 33 and remember you often. 34 You are surely watching over us. 35 He answered: "Granted is your prayer, O Moses. 36 We had already shown you favor 37 “When We inspired in your mother’s heart whatever was to be inspired.” 38 Saying: Put him into a chest, then cast it down into the river, then the river shall throw him on the shore; there shall take him up one who is an enemy to Me and enemy to him, and I cast down upon you love from Me, and that you might be brought up before My eyes; 39 “When your sister went, then said, ‘Shall I show you the people who may nurse him?’ And We brought you back to your mother in order to soothe her eyes and that she may not grieve; and you killed a man, so We freed you from sorrow, and tested you to the maximum; you therefore stayed for several years among the people of Madyan; then you came (here) at an appointed time, O Moosa.” 40 I chose you for Myself. 41 Go you and your brother with My communications and be not remiss in remembering Me; 42 "Go, both of you, to Pharaoh, for he has indeed transgressed all bounds; 43 But speak gently to him; perhaps he may yet take heed or even feel afraid." 44 They said: "Our Lord! Verily! We fear lest he should hasten to punish us or lest he should transgress (all bounds against us)." 45 He said: "Have no fear. I am with you, hearing and seeing all. 46 "So go you both to him, and say: 'Verily, we are Messengers of your Lord, so let the Children of Israel go with us, and torment them not; indeed, we have come with a sign from your Lord! And peace will be upon him who follows the guidance! 47 It is revealed to us that a punishment will fall on those who belie and turn away." 48 [Pharaoh] said, "So who is the Lord of you two, O Moses?" 49 He said, "Our Lord is He who gave each thing its form and then guided [it]." 50 [Pharaoh] said, "Then what is the case of the former generations?" 51 He said: The knowledge thereof is with my Lord in a Record. My Lord neither erreth nor forgetteth, 52 HE IT IS who has made the earth a cradle for you, and has traced out for you ways [of livelihood] thereon, and [who] sends down waters from the sky: and by this means We bring forth various kinds of plants. 53 You eat and let your cattle graze' Surely, in this there are signs for those of understanding. 54
