The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 then he mustered 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
