He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 to him thou attendest 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Not this way this is the advice. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
