The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
