Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions ranged 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
