In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
