The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness. 1 Whenever any fresh admonition comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it, but do not take it seriously; 2 their hearts are diverted. The harmdoers mutter to one another: 'Is this anything else but a human like yourself? What, will you follow sorcery with your eyes open' 3 Say: "My Lord knoweth (every) word (spoken) in the heavens and on earth: He is the One that heareth and knoweth (all things)." 4 Aye! they say: a medley of dreams; aye! he hath fabricated it; aye! he is a poet; so let him bring us a sign even as the ancients were sent with. 5 (As to those) before them, not one of the populations which We destroyed believed: will these believe? 6 And We did not send (Prophets) before you except men, to whom We sent divine revelations – therefore, O people, ask the people of knowledge if you do not know. 7 We did not endow the Messengers with bodies that would need no food; nor were they immortals. 8 Then We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and destroyed the transgressors. 9 We have sent down to you a Book which has a reminder for you. Do you not understand? 10
