The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
