The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 but I too plan against them. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
