The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 for We did vouchsafe them Our messages, but they obstinately turned their backs upon them 81 And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure. 82 Then the Blast caught them in the morning 83 Then availed them not that which they had been earning. 84 We did not create the heavens and the earth, and what is between them except in truth. The Hour is sure to come, therefore, forgive them with a gracious pardon. 85 Verily, your Lord is the All-Knowing Creator. 86 And We have bestowed upon thee the Seven Oft-repeated (verses) and the Grand Qur'an. 87 Strain not thine eyes toward that which We cause some wedded pairs among them to enjoin, and be not grieved on their account, and lower thy wing (in tenderness) for the believers. 88 And say: "I am a distinct warner," 89 (We have given you the Quran) as We had given (the Bible) to those who divided themselves into groups 90 those who had split up their Qur'an into pieces. 91 By the Lord, We will hold them all responsible 92 concerning what they have been doing. 93 Then declare what you are commanded and turn away from the polytheists. 94 Lo! We defend thee from the scoffers, 95 those who set up another deity alongside Allah. They shall soon come to know. 96 We do indeed know how your heart is distressed at what they say. 97 Therefore proclaim the Purity of your Lord with praise, and be of those who prostrate. 98 And keep worshipping your Lord, till death* comes to you. (* The certainty.) 99
