Therefor warn (men, O Muhammad). By the grace of Allah thou art neither soothsayer nor madman. 29 Or do they say: "[He is but] a poet - let us wait what time will do unto him"? 30 Say: Wait, for surely I too with you am of those who wait. 31 Does their reason tell them to say this or is it because they are a rebellious people? 32 Or do they say: "He has fabricated it?" In fact, they will never believe. 33 But then, [if they deem it the work of a mere mortal,] let them produce another discourse like it - if what they say be true! 34 Have they not been created by aught, or are they the creators? 35 Have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact, they have no strong faith. 36 Or have they the treasures of your Lord with them? Or have they been set in absolute authority? 37 Or have they a stairway (to heaven), by means of which they listen (to the talks of the angels)? Then let their listener produce some manifest proof. 38 Has (God) daughters and they sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are over-burdened by debt? 40 Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down? 41 Do they want to hatch some plot? Those who deny the truth will be the victims of the plot. 42 Have they, then, any deity other than God? Utterly remote is God, in His limitless glory, from anything to which men may ascribe a share in His divinity! 43 And if they were to see a piece of the heaven falling down, they would say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" 44 So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be struck insensible - 45 A day on which their scheming will not benefit them at all, nor will they be helped. 46 And surely those who are unjust shall have a punishment besides that (in the world), but most of them do not know. 47 And wait thou patiently the judgment of thy Lord; verily thou art before Our eyes; and hallow the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest. 48 And glorify Him in the night and when the stars begin to wane. 49
