The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 Rise up and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 Pollution shun! 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 So that is a tough day. 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
