He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And he fears, 9 you ignore him. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Dust shall cover them 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
