The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
