The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the sun and its radiant brightness, 1 And [by] the moon when it follows it 2 by the day, when it displays it, 3 The night when it covers him over, 4 By the heaven and Him Who builded it, 5 And by the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 By the soul, and That which shaped it 7 and how it is imbued with moral failings as well as with consciousness of God! 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression, 11 When the most wicked man among them went forth (to kill the she-camel). 12 then the Messenger of God said to them, 'The She-camel of God; let her drink!' 13 But they cried him lies, and hamstrung her, so their Lord crushed them for their sin, and leveled them: 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
