Kill not your children for fear of want: We shall provide sustenance for them as well as for you. Verily the killing of them is a great sin. 31 Do not commit adultery, for it is an indecent thing and an evil course. 32 And slay not the soul God has forbidden, except by right. Whosoever is slain unjustly, We have appointed to his next-of-kin authority; but let him not exceed in slaying; he shall be helped. 33 And do not touch the property of the orphans except for bettering it, until they come of age; and fulfil the promise made: You will surely be questioned about the promise. 34 (xii) Give full measure when you measure, and weigh with even scales. That is fair and better in consequence. 35 Do not follow what you do not know. The hearing, sight and heart about all these you shall be questioned. 36 Nor walk on the earth with insolence: for thou canst not rend the earth asunder, nor reach the mountains in height. 37 The evil of all that is hateful in the sight of thy Lord. 38 That is from what your Lord has revealed to you, [O Muhammad], of wisdom. And, [O mankind], do not make [as equal] with Allah another deity, lest you be thrown into Hell, blamed and banished. 39 HAS, THEN, your Sustainer distinguished you by [giving you] sons, and taken unto Himself daughters in the guise of angels? Verily, you are uttering a dreadful saying! 40
