Hizb 46
< random >
So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us). 139 When he ran away (like a slave from captivity) to the ship (fully) laden, 140 And then drew lots and was of those rejected; 141 The fish then swallowed him and he blamed himself. (For not waiting for Allah’s command.) 142 Had he not been of them who glorify Allah, 143 He would have remained in its belly till the day when all will be raised. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore while he was sick, 145 and We caused a gourd tree to grow over him. 146 And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. 147 and they believed, and We gave them enjoyment for awhile. 148 Then ask them whether your Lord has daughters and they have sons. 149 Or that We created the angels female, and they are witnesses (thereto)? 150 Is it not of their own calumny that they say, 151 "Allah has begotten off spring or children (i.e. angels are the daughters of Allah)?" And, verily, they are liars! 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 “What is the matter with you? What sort of a judgement you impose!” 154 Will you then not take heed? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful. 157 They have set up a kinship between Him and the jinn; and the jinn know that they shall be arraigned. 158 Hallowed be Allah from that which they ascribe to Him. 159 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 160 So you and your deities 161 can cause anyone to fall prey to your temptation 162 Save him who will go to hell. 163 [The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position. 164 We are surely those who are arranged in ranks. 165 and we are of those who glorify Allah.” 166 Even though they (unbelievers) say, 167 If we had the account of earlier people with us, 168 then were we God's sincere servants.' 169 They have rejected the Quran. They will soon know the consequences (of their disbelief). 170 We have already given Our promise to Our Messengers 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. 173 So turn thou away from them for a little while, 174 and watch them. They, too, will watch. 175 Do they really wish to hasten Our punishment? 176 When it descends into their courtyard, it will be terrible for those who have already been warned. 177 Withdraw from them awhile 178 and see [them for what they are]; and in time they [too] will come to see [what they do not see now]. 179 Too glorious is your Lord, the Lord of power, for what they ascribe to Him. 180 And peace be on the apostles. 181 And Praise to Allah, the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds. 182
True are the words of God the Almighty.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
