Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Reality? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 and neither known this my account! 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
