I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 a warning to mortal man 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 about the sinners. 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 until death approached us". 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
