Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
