1/2 Hizb 33

۞ Surely We had bestowed wisdom upon Abraham even earlier, and We knew him well. 51 Abraham asked his father and his people, "What are these statues which you worship?" 52 They replied, "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: "Certainly you and your fathers have all been in manifest error." 54 They said: Bringest thou unto us the truth, or art thou some jester? 55 He said, 'Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who originated them, and I am one of those that bear witness thereunto. 56 "And by Allah, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs." 57 He broke them all into pieces, except their great one so that they might return to it. 58 (When the people came to the temple and saw the broken idols) they asked each other, "Who has done this to our gods? He certainly is an unjust person". 59 They said: We heard a youth speak of them, who is called Ibrahim. 60 They said, “Therefore bring him in front of the people, perhaps they may testify.” 61 They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 Said he, “Rather, their chief may have done it; so question them, if they can speak.” 63 So they turned to themselves and said, "Surely ye are the ones in the wrong!" 64 And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not. 65 (Abraham) said, "Do ye then worship, besides Allah, things that can neither be of any good to you nor do you harm? 66 Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah. Then will you not use reason?" 67 They said: "Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing." 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 and whereas they sought to do evil unto him, We caused them to suffer the greatest loss: 70 We took Abraham and Lot safely to the land in which We had sent blessings to the worlds. 71 We bestowed Isaac and then Jacob on him as an additional boon and We made all of them righteous. 72 And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone). 73 AND UNTO Lot, too, We vouchsafed sound judgment and knowledge [of right and wrong,] and saved him from that community which was given to deeds of abomination. [We destroyed those people - for,] verily, they were people lost in evil, depraved 74 And We brought him in unto Our mercy. Lo! he was of the righteous. 75
