Thamood cried lies to the Envoys 141 When their brother Salih said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 142 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 143 "So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 145 (Do you think) you will be left secure here 146 “In gardens and water springs?” 147 And green crops (fields etc.) and date-palms with soft spadix. 148 Will you still skilfully hew houses out of the mountains? 149 Have fear of God and obey me. 150 and pay no heed to the counsel of those who are given to excesses 151 "Who make mischief in the land, and mend not (their ways)." 152 They said: Thou art but one of the bewitched; 153 "Thou art no more than a mortal like us: then bring us a Sign, if thou tellest the truth!" 154 He said: This is a she-camel; she shall have her portion of water, and you have your portion of water on an appointed time; 155 "Touch her not with harm, lest the Penalty of a Great Day seize you." 156 Yet they hamstrung her, and in the morning they were remorseful, 157 The punishment therefore seized them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 158 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 159
