Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 These are the verses of the Wise Book, 2 a guidance and mercy for the doers of good, 3 Those who keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and they are certain of the hereafter. 4 It is they who are on true guidance from their Lord, and it is they who shall prosper. 5 There are some people who would purchase distracting talk, to lead astray from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and take it in mockery; for those is a humiliating punishment. 6 When Our verses are recited to such a person, he arrogantly turns away, as though he had not heard them, or as though there was a deafness in his ears. So announce to him the tidings of a grievous chastisement. 7 Indeed those who believed and did good deeds – for them are Gardens of serenity. 8 They shall abide in them forever. This is Allah's promise that shall come true. He is the Most Powerful, the Most Wise. 9 He hath created the heavens without supports that ye can see, and hath cast into the earth firm hills, so that it quake not with you; and He hath dispersed therein all kinds of beasts. And We send down water from the sky and We cause (plants) of every goodly kind to grow therein. 10 This is the creation of Allah. So show Me that which those (whom you worship), besides Him have created. Nay, the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers and those who do not believe in the Oneness of Allah) are in plain error. 11
