The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ AR-RAHMAN 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He created man 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 The plants and trees prostrate before Him. 6 And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, 7 That ye should not trespass in respect of the balance. 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 And grain chaffed and other food. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created man from clay like that of earthenware. 14 whereas the invisible beings He has created out of a confusing flame of fire. 15 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? 16 (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests: 17 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 23 His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners. 24 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 25
