The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
