A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad 1 This is a Book revealed to you. Let there be no impediment in your heart about it. (It has been revealed to you) that you may thereby warn [the unbelievers], that it may be a reminder to the believers. 2 "Follow what has been sent down unto you by your Sustainer, and follow no masters other than Him. How seldom do you keep this in mind! 3 And how many cities have We destroyed, and Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 And when Our scourge fell upon them their only cry was: 'We are indeed transgressors.' 5 Then verily We shall question those unto whom (Our message) hath been sent, and verily We shall question the messengers. 6 Then We will surely relate [their deeds] to them with knowledge, and We were not [at all] absent. 7 On that Day, the weighing is true. He whose scales are heavy those are the prosperers, 8 and those whose good deeds are light [in the balance] will be the ones who have lost themselves because they wrongfully rejected Our signs. 9 And assuredly We established you in the earth and appointed for you livelihoods therein; yet little thanks ye return. 10
