Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 The Trustworthy Spirit brought it down. (Angel Jibreel – peace be upon him.) 193 Upon your heart that you may be of the warners 194 In the perspicuous Arabic tongue. 195 And lo! it is in the Scriptures of the men of old. 196 And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel? 197 Had We revealed it to any one of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had read it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 This is how We have made (the habit of) denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 they shall not believe in it until they see the painful punishment 201 that will come upon them [on resurrection,] all of a sudden, without their being aware [of its approach]; 202 Then they will say: Are we to be reprieved? 203 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 204 Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years 205 And then cometh that which they were promised, 206 So of what benefit will be the comforts that they were using? 207 We never destroyed any habitation but that it had warners 208 and reminded: for, never do We wrong [anyone]. 209 The devils did not bring it down: 210 Neither would it suit them, nor they can (produce it). 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 So do not call upon another god with Allah, lest you should be one of those who are punished. 213 And warn your near relations, 214 And be kind to him who follows you of the believers. 215 then, if they disobey thee, say, 'I am quit of that you do.' 216 And put thy trust in the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 And your movement among those who prostrate. 219 Surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. 220 Shall I tell you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They come down to every mendacious sinner, 222 They listen eagerly, but most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, the erring follow them, 224 Did you not see that they keep wandering in every valley? 225 And that they say what they do not do? - 226 Except those who believe and do the right, and remember God a great deal, who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown! 227
