The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 narratives that are full of consummate wisdom. But warnings do not avail them. 5 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing. 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 it swept the people away as though they were palm-trunks uprooted: 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? 22
