The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Who will be honoured 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water poured out 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right. 38
