Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they came to him and said, “Peace”; he answered, “Peace”; and thought, “These people are not familiar.” 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?" 27 Then he became afraid of them. They said: “Fear not,” and announced to him the good news of (the birth of) a boy endowed with knowledge. 28 Then his wife drew near vociferating, and smote her face, and said: an old barren woman! 29 They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, 32 so that we may bring down upon them a shower of stones of clay, 33 marked by your Lord upon those who go beyond the limits.” 34 So We brought forth such believers as were in it, 35 But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters]. 36 and left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And also in Moses, when We sent him unto Pharaoh, with a clear authority, 38 But he withdrew (confiding) in his might, and said: A wizard or a madman. 39 So We took him and his forces, and threw them into the sea; and his was the blame. 40 And in (the tribe of) A'ad (there is a portent) when we sent the fatal wind against them. 41 It did not leave aught on which it blew, but it made it like ashes. 42 And in Thamud (there is also a sign), when they were told: "Enjoy yourselves for a while!" 43 They transgressed against the command of their Lord. So a blast of sound struck them and they were unable to do anything but stare. 44 they could not stand up again, nor could they defend themselves. 45 (So were) the people of Nuh (Noah) before them. Verily, they were a people who were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). 46
