The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when souls are united, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 The closing night, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
