The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
