Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 By the Book that makes things clear; 2 Surely We revealed it on a blessed night surely We are ever warning-- 3 Therein (that night) is decreed every matter of ordainments. 4 by Our command. Verily, We were set to send a Messenger 5 as a mercy from thy Lord (surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing) 6 Lord of the heavens and earth, and all that between them is if you have faith. 7 There is only One Lord. It is He who gives life and causes things to die. He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers. 8 Yet they are lost in doubt and play. 9 WAIT, THEN, for the Day when the skies shall bring forth a pall of smoke which will make obvious [the approach of the Last Hour,] 10 Which would envelope mankind. That would be a grievous affliction. 11 Our Lord! remove from us the torment, verily we shall become believers. 12 How can there be an admonition unto them, when surely there came unto them an apostle manifest! 13 And they had turned away from him and said: One taught (by others), a madman? 14 If We remove the torment a little, you revert back (to misdeeds). 15 On the day when We will seize (them) with the most violent seizing; surely We will inflict retribution. 16 ۞ We had tried the people of Pharaoh before them. A respected prophet had come to them (saying): 17 saying, 'Deliver to me God's servants; I am for you a faithful Messenger, 18 And [saying], "Be not haughty with Allah. Indeed, I have come to you with clear authority. 19 and I take refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you should stone me. 20 "But if you believe me not, then keep away from me and leave me alone." 21 Then he called to his Lord: "These are a sinful people." 22 "Journey by night with My devotees," (it was said); "you will certainly be pursued. 23 And leave thou the sea divided: verily they are a host to be drowned. 24 They left - how many! of gardens and springs. 25 And green crops (fields etc.) and goodly places, 26 And comforts of life wherein they used to take delight! 27 Even so (it was), and We made it an inheritance for other folk; 28 So the heaven and the earth did not weep for them, nor were they respited. 29

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
