The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
