And whatever calamity befalls you, is because of what your hands have earned – and there is a great deal He pardons! 30 You cannot thwart Him on the earth, and have no friend or helper apart from Him. 31 Ships sailing in the ocean like ensigns are a sign of His. 32 If He will He calmeth the wind so that they keep still upon its surface - Lo! herein verily are signs for every steadfast grateful (heart). - 33 Or He causeth them to perish on account of that which they have earned - And He forgiveth much - 34 and that those who dispute concerning Our signs may know they have no asylum. 35 Whatever ye are given (here) is (but) a convenience of this life: but that which is with Allah is better and more lasting: (it is) for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord: 36 And those who shun the worst of sins and indecencies and, when they are wroth, forgive, 37 And those who answer the call of their Lord and establish worship, and whose affairs are a matter of counsel, and who spend of what We have bestowed on them, 38 And those who, when great wrong is done to them, defend themselves, 39 But [remember that an attempt at] requiting evil may, too, become an evil: hence, whoever pardons [his foe] and makes peace, his reward rests with God - for, verily, He does not love evildoers. 40 And whoso defendeth himself after he hath suffered wrong - for such, there is no way (of blame) against them. 41 Reproach is only against those who oppress people, and wrongfully spread rebellion in the land; for them is a painful punishment. 42 To exercise patience and forgive (the wrong done to one) is the proof of genuine determination. 43
