The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On studded thrones. 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and banana trees, 29 and shade extended, 30 and flowing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
