Al-A 'araaf 12 of 24

And We sent to no city a prophet [who was denied] except that We seized its people with poverty and hardship that they might humble themselves [to Allah]. 94 then We gave them in the place of evil good, till they multiplied, and said, 'Hardship and happiness visited our fathers.' So We seized them suddenly, unawares. 95 And if the people of the townships had believed and kept from evil, surely We should have opened for them blessings from the sky and from the earth. But (unto every messenger) they gave the lie, and so We seized them on account of what they used to earn. 96 Did the people of the towns think themselves secure from Our wrath that could strike them at night during their sleep 97 Or else did they feel secure against its coming in broad daylight while they played about (care-free)? 98 Do they feel secure against the design of Allah None can feel secure against the design of Allah except the utter losers. 99
