The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
