Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 in an exalted garden 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
