۞ He it is who created you from a single soul, and He created therefrom his spouse that he might find repose in her. Then when he covereth her she beareth a light burthen and fareth about therewith; then when she groweth heavy the twain call upon Allah their Lord: if Thou vouchsafest us a goodly child, we shall surely be of the thankful. 189 But when He vouchsafes them a healthy child, they attribute to Him partners regarding what Allah had bestowed upon them. Subliminally exalted is Allah above that which they associate with Him. 190 Do they indeed ascribe to Him as partners things that can create nothing, but are themselves created? 191 They have no power to help others. nor can they help themselves. 192 And if you call them to true guidance, they will not follow you. It is all the same for you whether you call them to true guidance or keep silent. 193 Verily those whom ye call upon beside Allah are creatures like unto you; so call on them, and let them answer you if ye say sooth. 194 Have they feet on which they can walk? Have they hands with which they can grasp? Have they eyes with which they can see? Have they ears with which they can hear? Say [O Muhammad]: 'Invoke all those to whom you ascribe a share in Allah's divinity, then scheme against me and grant me no respite. 195 The (true) Guardian is certainly God who has revealed the Book and is the Guardian of the righteous ones. 196 And those whom ye call upon besides Him cannot succour you nor themselves they can succour. 197 And if you call them to guidance they do not listen; and you (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) observe them looking towards you, whereas they do not perceive anything. 198 MAKE due allowance for man's nature, and enjoin the doing of what is right; and leave alone all those who choose to remain ignorant. 199 And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is Hearing and Knowing. 200 When any evil suggestion from Satan touches those who fear God, they are instantly alerted and become watchful; 201 But (as for) their brothers (the devils) they (i.e. the devils) plunge them deeper into error, and they never stop short. 202 When you do not bring them a verse, they say, 'Why have you not chosen one' Say: 'I follow only what is revealed to me from my Lord. This (Koran) is a veritable proof from your Lord, guidance and mercy for people who believe' 203 When the Quran is read, listen to it with attention, and hold your peace, so that you may receive mercy. 204 And remember thou thy Lord within thyself with humility and fear, without loudness in word, in the morning and evenings; and be thou not of the negligent. 205 Those who are with your Lord are not too proud to worship Him. They exalt Him and to Him they prostrate. ۩ 206
