Indeed We created man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud. 26 And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire. 27 And recall what time thy Lord said unto the angels: verily I am about to create a man from ringing clay of loam moulded. 28 So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him. 29 Therefore all the angels, each and every one of them, fell prostrate. 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 God asked him, "What is the matter with you, that you are not among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 He said: "It does not behove of me to prostrate myself before a human being whom You have created out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud." 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 And surely on you is curse until the day of judgment. 35 He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected." 36 Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved, 37 Till the period of the time made known. 38 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. 39 except Your sincere servants". 40 He said: This is a right way with Me: 41 "For over My servants no authority shalt thou have, except such as put themselves in the wrong and follow thee." 42 And lo! for all such, hell will be the promised place. 43 It has seven gates, and through each gate a portion of them belong. 44
